POLIS University Successfully Completes QAA Mid-Cycle Review, Confirming International Institutional Accreditation Until 2028

Statement by QAA

QAA is pleased to congratulate POLIS University on the successful completion of the mid-cycle review of its international institutional accreditation.

POLIS University was first awarded QAA Global Accreditation in March 2023. This accreditation is granted to higher education institutions for a five-year period, subject to the successful completion of a mid-cycle review. The review team concluded that POLIS University has made satisfactory progress since its International Quality Review (IQR) in May 2023 and recommended that the validity of the IQR be extended until 16 December 2028.

QAA Global Accreditation is awarded to higher education institutions outside the United Kingdom that have successfully completed QAA’s International Quality Review (IQR) process. The review evaluates institutions against the international quality assurance standards set out in Part 1 of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

The mid-cycle review found that:

“The University has successfully expanded its academic infrastructure through the acquisition of an additional building located within the existing campus. This facility serves as a strategic hub for the Faculty of Planning, Urban Management and Environment, providing significantly enhanced space for the institution’s research activities… The institution has achieved sustained growth in student enrolment. This growth has been managed through a strategic and organic approach… POLIS remains committed to maintaining an optimal staff-to-student ratio, ensuring the high level of mentoring that is essential to its studio-based learning environment.”

POLIS University is a private higher education institution in Albania. It was established in 2006, with its origins dating back to 1996, when Co-PLAN – Institute for Habitat Development was founded.

Sam Booth-Malone, Quality and International Development Manager at QAA, stated:

“It is a great pleasure to work with POLIS University and with all of our colleagues in Albania. We look forward to continuing this very positive and productive relationship.”
