Welcome to the Outgoing Students section of the International Affairs Office at Polis University. This page provides information for students who wish to study, intern, or conduct research abroad as part of their degree program.
Our aim is to support you through every step of the mobility process – from choosing a destination and applying, to preparing for departure and recognizing your credits when you return.

Why go abroad?
Studying or completing an internship abroad is an excellent opportunity to:
- Gain international academic experience and strengthen your CV
- Improve your English and other foreign language skills
- Experience new cultures and build a global network of friends and colleagues
- Develop independence, self-confidence, and intercultural competences
Polis University encourages student mobility as a key part of your personal and professional development.
Types of opportunities
1. Exchange Programs
Exchange programs allow you to study at one of our partner universities for one semester or one academic year. Under most agreements, you pay tuition fees at Polis University and are exempt from tuition fees at the host institution.

- University C – Country
2. Study Abroad Programs
Study abroad (fee-paying) programs may include summer/winter schools or short-term academic programs at international universities. They are ideal for students who want a shorter experience abroad, often during breaks between semesters.
3. Internships & Research Abroad
The International Affairs Office can help you identify international internships or research placements related to your field of study (e.g. Business, IT, Law, Psychology, etc.). These experiences help you apply your academic knowledge in real-world contexts.
Eligibility & requirements
The following are general eligibility criteria for outgoing mobility (to be adapted to your policies):
- Be a fully enrolled student at Polis University
- Have successfully completed at least the first year of studies
- Meet the minimum GPA requirement (e.g. 7.0 or higher – placeholder)
- Possess sufficient knowledge of English or the language of instruction at the host university
- Submit all required application documents by the official deadline
Specific programs may have additional requirements, which will be listed in each call for applications.
Application process
The application process for mobility programs is coordinated by the International Affairs Office.
The general steps are:
- Choose a program and destination
Browse the available partner institutions and programs. Review language and academic requirements. - Consult your academic coordinator
Discuss your planned mobility, course selection, and how credits will be recognized upon your return. - Prepare your documents
Typically required documents include:- Application Form (template to be provided)
- Transcript of Records
- Motivation Letter / Statement of Purpose
- Preliminary Learning Agreement (list of courses abroad)
- Proof of language proficiency (if required)
- Submit your application
Applications should be submitted via the International Affairs Office by the deadline. - Selection & nomination
Selected students will be nominated to the host university and will receive further instructions.
Indicative deadlines (placeholders):
- For mobility in the Fall semester: 15 May
- For mobility in the Spring semester: 15 November
Exact deadlines will be published for each call and may change from year to year.
Scholarships & financial support
Outgoing students may be eligible for financial support to help cover the costs of mobility. The availability and type of support may vary each year.
Possible forms of support (placeholders):
- Mobility grants offered by Polis University
- National or regional scholarship schemes
- Support from partner institutions or external organizations
Even with support, students should be prepared to cover expenses such as accommodation, travel, visa fees, insurance, and daily living costs.
Indicative monthly costs abroad (for guidance only):
- Accommodation: €300–700
- Food & daily expenses: €200–400
- Local transportation & other costs: depending on destination
Pre-departure
All selected students must attend a Pre-Departure Orientation organized by the International Affairs Office.
The session covers:
- Visa and residence permit information (if applicable)
- Health and travel insurance requirements
- Accommodation options and travel arrangements
- Cultural awareness and adaptation
- Safety, emergency contacts, and communication
You will also receive a checklist to ensure you are fully prepared before leaving Albania.
During your stay abroad
While you are abroad, you remain a student of Polis University.
Please keep in mind the following:
- Stay in regular contact with the International Affairs Office and your academic coordinator
- Inform us immediately of any changes to your Learning Agreement
- Follow academic rules and regulations at the host institution
- Respect local laws and cultural norms
In case of emergency, you should contact:
- The local coordinator at the host university
- The International Affairs Office at Polis University
- Albanian consular services in the host country (if applicable)
Returning students & credit recognition
After you complete your mobility period, several steps are needed to finalize your academic recognition:
- Submit your Transcript of Records
The host university will issue an official transcript listing the courses you have completed and the grades obtained. - Credit transfer and recognition
In consultation with your academic coordinator, your completed courses will be recognized and transferred in line
with the approved Learning Agreement. - Submit a mobility report
You may be asked to complete a brief report or survey about your experience abroad. - Share your experience
Returning students are encouraged to participate in info sessions and become mobility ambassadors, helping other
students who are planning to go abroad.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Who can apply for mobility programs?
Generally, full-time students who have completed at least one year of studies, meet the GPA and language requirements, and submit all documents by the deadline may apply.
2. Will I pay tuition fees at the host university?
In most exchange agreements, you continue paying tuition fees at Polis University and are exempt from tuition fees at the host university. Fee-paying study abroad programs may follow different rules.
3. Are scholarships guaranteed?
Scholarships and mobility grants are limited and may depend on available funding each year. Receiving a place in a mobility program does not automatically guarantee financial support.
4. Will my credits be recognized when I return?
If you complete the courses agreed in your Learning Agreement and pass them successfully, your credits should be recognized in line with the university’s regulations.
5. Do I need a visa?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the host country. The International Affairs Office will guide you, but it is your responsibility to apply for and obtain the necessary visa or residence permit.
