On January 30, 2026, the Faculty of Research and Development, through the Department of Scientific Research, organized the student debate competition “AI & the Future We Design” at the MAD Gallery of POLIS University. The event was dedicated to critical reflection on the role of Artificial Intelligence in architecture, design, environmental engineering, and sustainable development.
The activity opened with a welcoming session, during which the objectives of the competition, the jury members, and the participating teams were presented, followed by the draw of the debate topics. Students engaged in dynamic and well-structured discussions across three rounds of the competition, addressing timely and thought-provoking issues such as the role of AI in design processes, smart cities, parametric design, and environmental decision-making.
Throughout the exploratory round and the critical thinking round, participants demonstrated strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary approaches. The final round featured an in-depth debate on the key question: Should AI be granted final authority in environmental and sustainability-related decision-making?
The event concluded with the announcement of the winners and the awarding of certificates to all participants, reaffirming the importance of academic debate as a valuable tool for students’ professional and intellectual development.
This competition highlights POLIS University’s commitment to fostering critical dialogue, innovation, and awareness of the impact of advanced technologies on the future we design and build.
