ACADEMIC PROFILE
ledja Canaj (PhD) is a lecturer at FPMMU, Polis University since 2024 collaborating in the subjects of Environment. Kledja has a strong academic and professional background on the topics of water management, environmental studies, circular economy practices, sustainability and innovation within an international context. Kledja is graduated in Environmental Engineering: Water Treatment Profile in 2014, from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Polytechnic University of Tirana. In the period 2014-2016, she continued her studies with a Master of Science program in Land and Water Resources Management: Agriculture and Irrigation at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (MAIB-CIHEAM), in Bari, Italy. The master’s thesis focused on the quantitative evaluation of the management performance of the association of water users in Cukas (Lushnje) for the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems. In 2022, Kledja earned the degree of Doctor of Science with an “Excellent” rating in Economics and Management of Natural Resources from LUM Giuseppe Degennaro University, Italy. The dissertation focused on a comprehensive analysis (environmental, economic and social) of the effects and benefits of polluted water for irrigation in the region of Puglia, Italy. She has served as a visiting researcher at the University of Córdoba in Spain, working under the supervision of the well-known Professor Julio Berbel. Her experience spans international, collaborative and multidisciplinary research environments. Also, Kledja has participated in several initiatives and activities within international projects through INTERREG, Puglia Region and HORIZON programs.
