On December 3^rd, 2024, the training course on monitoring geotechnical engineering structures successfully concluded. This activity was made possible thanks to several months of organization and collaboration between partners: POLIS University in Albania, represented by Prof. Assoc. Merita Guri, PhD. Endri Duro, and PhD. Ilda Rusi, as well as two of the leading companies in the field of geotechnical monitoring and investigations, SISGEO from Italy and ALTEA GEOSTUDIO 2000 from Albania.

The main goal of the training course was to present and provide detailed information on:

• The importance of observational methods during the design and construction phases,
• The different types of monitoring systems,
• The risks associated with the implementation of these systems,
• The positive impact on the maintenance of geotechnical engineering structures.

The training course was divided into two main parts; the first consisted mainly of engaging lectures delivered by representatives from the companies and POLIS University, while the second part took a more practical approach where concrete case studies were presented, and some of the instruments used were made available for participants to examine closely.

We highlight the diversity of participants, including students, young researchers, engineers, and representatives from various construction and design companies, making the activity interactive and highly productive for those interested in this field.
