ACADEMIC PROFILE

Architect, Ph.D. in Architecture, special theme on Recovery and Fruition of Cultural Heritage. Currently she is a Lecturer at the Department of Architecture and Engineering of the Faculty of Architecture and Design. Experience in Biomimetic Materials Research for Resilient Architecture, she is ARUP Talent Community. Qualified as an Associate Professor, among the others, she is Member of SITDA (Italian Society of Architectural Technology, SID (Italian Society of Design) and ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites), and carries out research on Innovative Technologies, focusing on Biomimetic and Adaptive materials, for existing and new buildings, with particular attention to Environmental Sustainability. She has been curator and coordinator of the project Perspectives of Resilient Architecture, promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Melbourne, Australia, she participated at several national and international projects, with the goal of cultural and technological exchange, like in transfrontalier cooperation program Italy/Tunisie. She has taught in Italy and abroad also for international doctoral courses, on sustainable architecture topics and is author of Patents and has Published numerous books and Scientific papers, including articles in Journals and Proceedings of National and International Congresses, on issues on innovative and smart materials.

PATENT OWNERSHIP

  1. National patent – Title: Radiofrequency active electrode and method for microendoscopic discectomy interventions. Patent 0001347474 – Registration September 19, 2008. This invention has as its object the industrial design and the innovative method for the realization of a surgical electrode (scalpel) built in pure titanium and used in the field of Surgery. The invention concerns the aesthetics, material and ergonomics of the electrode, in order to improve the functionality, usability and safety of the product for humans, in order to improve the well-being and life of man.
  1. National patent – Title:  New high-carat gold alloys of superior hardness. Patent 0001358400 – Registration 01 April 2009. This invention, the result of inter and multidisciplinary research, has as its object the creation of products with ultra-performing gold alloys that, due to characteristics of resilience and durability, can be used for the protection and ennobling of precious elements, adapting over time to external conditions.
  1. National patent – Title:  Method to prepare bioactive, biocompatible implants whose surface is characterized by clusters of me 1. 07 ti 1. 73 o4 with a fractal lepidocrocite structure, to be allocated to the domain of dental implantology and orthopedics. Patent 0001386070 – Registration 09 February 2011. This invention, the subject of inter and multidisciplinary research, has as its object the production of new fractal surfaces on titanium materials, whose innovation is given by nanostructured geometry. A nanostructured titanium object is a material of high biocompatibility but, subjected to particular treatments, also of bioactivity and can well be destined to the realization of objects and structures that come into close contact with living beings and all the elements present in nature without damaging them. The invention is aimed at improving the physical well-being of people.
  1. National patent – Title:  Innovative method to create a nanostructured honeycomb layer of titania, self-generated on the surfaces of titanium-based materials, intended for the medical and surgical domain of dental implants, orthopedic prostheses and osteosynthesis. Patent 000138607409 – Registration February 2011. This invention, the subject of inter- and multidisciplinary research, refers to the production of surfaces to improve the usability of dental implants and orthopedic prostheses, biocompatible and bioadactive nanostructures, in order to improve the physical well-being of people.
