Professional profile

This study program aims to provide professional training to future environmental researchers, integrating knowledge on global environmental issues and phenomena, and contextualizing and applying them to the Albanian case. Guaranteeing balances for the proper functioning of the entire environmental system requires the treatment of its problems by experts of all levels who use environmental logic in all human interventions, starting from the fact that sensitivity to environmental problems is increasing significantly and in Albania, this within the aspirations for EU integration. The environment and its problems are in the center of attention both on a local scale and on a global scale, making this program very coherent with the demands of the times and the market.

Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary program that includes perspectives from the social and natural sciences, arts, humanities, project training as well as business-related modules. The aim of the program is to provide students with the skills, knowledge and attitudes they need to be experts in the field and to make informed decisions about environmental issues.

Students of this branch gain not only theoretical knowledge, but also a lot of practical experience in the field, laboratory or through observations and examinations of the human impact on water, rock, air and soil systems. Polis University offers a modern facility with dedicated laboratories. With a broad background in geology, hydrology, meteorology and earth science and a solid knowledge of the fundamentals of science, students are able to immediately start their careers after completing this program.

a. General training
Topography; Mathematics, Environmental Education; Environmental Law and Legislation; Urban Geography; etc.

b. Characteristic base formation
Earth Science; Water, Aquatic Environment and Hydrology; Air, Atmosphere and Climatology; Environmental Impact Assessment; Ecology; Environmental Management; Urban Environmental Planning; Toxicology and Pollution etc.

c. Integrative training
Computer applications in Environment and GIS; Hydraulic; Chemistry; etc.

Employment opportunities
The main employment sectors include:
– The private sector, which includes various companies or design consulting studios in the field of the environment. Employment opportunities also include NGOs, international organizations,
– The public sector, including the level of local government, starting from municipalities, communes, also at the district or regional level. There are also employment opportunities in central government institutions.
– Domestic and foreign scientific research institutions that focus on the field of the environment or fields related to it.
