INNOVATION_Factory is an interdisciplinary innovation and research center at POLIS University. The main aim is to promote all research practices, methodologies and approaches unfolding new content in different fields of science and technology. Innovation Factory acts as a cross-discipline cloud which combines the activities of the two faculties and RDI with the purpose of generating and provoking new creative and experimental solutions.
INNOVATION_Factory coordinate the information collected by three base units from each mani unit of POLIS University, which are:
Research Unit of Architecture and Design or otherwise MAD_Center is the research unit of the Faculty of Architecture and Design and it is conceived as a hub for the development and exposure of creative products in the field of Architecture, Design and Visual Arts where the focus is placed on the creativity of the students. The center also organizes various design and visual arts exhibitions.
Sustainability Research Unit or otherwise Sust_Lab is one of the base units of the Faculty of Urban Planning and Environment Management. This unit is set up to serve as a platform for observations, practice and theoretical research on sustainability issues.
Information Resource Center or otherwise POLIS_Press is one center of the Research and Development Institute. The center comprises Library services and POLIS_Press. Within the POLIS_Press all publications such as MAD and HABITAT magazines, textbooks, translated books and A+P Journal are coordinated. The center is financed mainly from Polis general budget while publications, whenever possible, are financed through sponsorship and donor support.
As can be seen from the above schemes, through INNOVATION_Factory as a result of cooperation, collection of research, scientific and innovation information between units are achieved two important events. POLIS University and local partners alternately organize two biennial TAW (Tirana Architecture Week) and TDW (Tirana Design Week) before the beginning of each academic year. Both biennales are important as cultural and professional events for the life of Tirana, country as well as for the region.
